Games start at 1:00 pm and will end by 3:30 pm. The games will be played every Sunday on 3rd Ave S.W. (downtown High River in front of The Daily Male Barber Shop). All games will be played come Hell, High Water, Snow Sleet, Hail, Sun, Moon and Stars.
We will play two 30-minute games every Sunday until the final play-off game December 22, 2019. We will be playing for the prestigious "Carlson's Cup", to be awarded at the end of final playoff game. The Carlson's Cup is currently on display at The Daily Male.
Each 30 minute game will be played by 2 teams of 6 players The games will be played with one goalie and three defense/forwards (in play), and two spares on the bench (for relief/line change). The games are continuous play except for changing ends at the end of every 10-minute increment (meaning we change ends twice in a game). There will be a faceoff at the beginning of each game and at the beginning of each end change.
There will be no traffic control, so play will stop and nets will be moved as vehicles approach and pass. The first player to see an approaching vehicle will yell “CAR”, and play will stop until the traffic passes. The all-clear will be signalled by the phrase “GAME ON”! Play will resume without a faceoff and the clock will not stop.
Players are asked to sign up for each game by 12:30 pm at The Daily Male. The first two players to sign up will be designated as team captains and they will pick 5 teammates each. Those who don't make the cut for the first game will be picked first for teams playing the second game. Team Captains for the second game will be selected during the intermission break between the end of the first game and the beginning of the second game
Please bring your own hockey stick. Nets, tennis balls, and coloured armbands will be provided.
There will be (limited) free refreshments provided at the conclusion of each game. Hotdogs and hot chocolate will be available after the games until supplies run out
Please note: These games are for players over the age of 30 years and the teams are open to Men and Women. All players are encouraged to bring a cheering section and lawn chairs
